Blizzards were around when I was growing up, but not polar vortexes, heat domes, nor atmospheric rivers. Wind chill wasn’t a thing and “Super Storms” were right out. So I contend there’s been a lot of hype to get people to watch more ads bracketing the weather forecasts. D.N.
“Phoenix, Arizona, obliterated its previous record (a record that was only a year old, mind you) by almost 3 degrees, a pummeling of a record in the realm of three-month temperature data”
My grandmother in the 1970s insisted the weather was changing and she blamed “the moon shots”. She might not have been wrong.
