It is pretty certain death rates from COVID-19 are under reported across the globe. Eventually the number of excess deaths will give a better (but not perfect) number. Any way you look at it, the US is a terrible failure. China and Japan, for instance, each have about as many total COVID-19 deaths as the US currently has in a single day. From Statistia.

Been using WhatsApp on my phone, mostly to group chat with family, and for voice calls when we travel overseas (which isn’t very often). WhatsApp is owned by the Evil Facebook Empire and is changing their policies. WhatsApp will now share your data with Facebook. So I’m deleting it. Looks like the Signal App is pretty good and respects privacy.

Took a walk down South Congress, cleaning up the electronics on the mower, made a nice fire in the fire pit, made some Perry’s Pork Chop Ramen. Snowy day today. Probably the most snow I have ever seen in Austin.
